Frequently Asked Questions
1Why do we need leak detection services?
Excellent question! Leak detection can save considerable costs in excavation and materials. Finding the leak can be tricky. A marshy area on your lawn or wet spot on your concrete slab can indicate a leak – but it may be located 10 to 20 feet away. In many cases, a clay cap or nonpermeable soil causes water to travel before it surfaces.
2How do I know that you’re capable of finding our leak?
Reliable Leak Detection has the most advanced equipment in the industry and follows the most stringent guidelines to provide you with the best possible leak detection services. We perform four different procedures, giving you the most accurate information available.
3How quickly can you respond to my needs?
We are usually available within 24 hours. Same day service may be available.
4If you find the leak, can you tell me what to do about it?
If you’re working with a plumbing contractor, we prefer to have them answer this question, as having two sources answering the same question can cause confusion. If not, we will give you the options and if you need help, the names of plumbers who can perform the work.
5How much does this service cost?
We charge between $350 and $450, depending on location. This includes our four step process, which includes helium, and up to 2 hours labor. The service usually takes 1-1/2 – 2 hours.
6Do I need to be present while the test is taking place?
Yes. We first need to determine if the leak is inside or outside. Then we need to view how your water main is configured as it enters the home and whether a pressure regulating valve or other devices are in place. We usually connect to your system on the inside of the home to perform our work.
