Slab Leak Detection in Fairfield, Ohio

Slab Leak Detection in Fairfield, Ohio

This was my easiest slab leak yet. After interviewing my client, I found that the water lines were only 1/2″, which didn’t produce as much sound with just water leaking, but sang like a canary after adding compressed air. After checking the valving and watching the water meter, I found that this was a hot water leak. When we pulled up the carpet there was a distinct radius around the suspected slab leak location with mold under the padding, yet the carpet had never been wet. The owner did occasionally feel a warm spot in the area, which did not reveal itself while I was there. I drilled several holes in the slab to allow helium to rise, and it did at two points. Rechecking the leak with the ground spear allowed a more precise slab leak detection. Mission accomplished!
