Lawrenceburg – Aurora – Greendale, Indiana leak detection service

Lawrenceburg – Aurora – Greendale, Indiana leak detection service involved a roughly 4,000 ft water line running 2,000 ft from the meter at the street to a pump house, then roughly 2,000 ft. more up to the home at the top of the hill. The water line was 1″ run at roughly 70 psi from the street. We tried to run the leak detection from the home, but there was a check valve and baffle tank which wouldn’t allow running back into the system. We wound up having a plumber install a hose bibb at the pump house where we could drain the water line down and then run helium. The helium surfaced at the top of the hill and we were able to make a locate at that point. As it turned out there was a sanitary sewer running directly over the water line and both lines were damaged. The sewer line had apparently been dumping sewage into the ground for a few weeks, which made the water line repair more challenging for the plumber than normal.
